Almeria, Spain


Situated in southeastern Spain, Almería (population 145,000) is the capital city of its province, also named Almería. With over 3,000 hours of sunshine a year and an average annual temperature of 65-66ºF in its capital city, Almería is the warmest province in Andalucía. Its pleasant climate, combined with various outdoor/natural attractions and an impressive historical and artistic heritage, draw tourists and vacationers year-round. A major exporter of garden crops, the province of Almería is also one of the most fertile and productive areas in all of Europe. Strategically located on the Mediterranean coast, Almería has been home to various civilizations throughout its history, all of which have left important marks in the archaeological record in the form of artifacts scattered throughout the province. Of all its inhabitants, the Arabs left the most lasting influence in Almería due to their occupation of the area for almost eight centuries.

ISA DIRECT offers programs in Almería that varyin length and academic focus. All courses are taught in Spanish by host university professors. Students may choose from Semester, Trimester, or Year programs that offer classes in a variety of subject areas. Students have the option of studying with Spanish students or international students. These programs are designed for students who already have an advanced proficiency in the Spanish language. Through ISA DIRECT, students will experience an academically challenging and culturally enriching study abroad program. By maximizing their time abroad, students will not only become integrated into Spanish culture, but will also develop relationships and skills to last a lifetime.
