What's Included...

Academic classes

Students may earn 12 - 30 hours of credit depending on the length of the program. An official transcript will be issued by the host university upon completion of the program.

Official Transcript from Host University

For each ISA participant who successfully completes the program, the participant's host university will issue an official transcript listing all coursework. ISA also provides a letter explaining the host university's grading system and translating the transcript contents as necessary.

Tuition

Tuition at the host university is included in the program price. All classes are held at the host university and are taught by faculty from the host country. Depending on the program selected, courses will be available with Spanish students and/or international students.

Housing

Housing during the first month in the program city is included in the price of all ISA Direct programs. Homestays (typically 2 students per room) are the norm; however some students may also have the opportunity to live in residencias (boarding houses). This option is more widely available to students participating in a year-long program. Residencias are limited in availability and must be arranged well in advance, so students interested in this option should contact ISA as soon as possible to inquire.

All homestays include three meals per day and laundry once per week. After the first two weeks of ISA housing students will need to tell ISA if they intend to stay with their host family or if they plan to find their own housing accommodations.

Medical insurance

Medical insurance is provided during the official period of the program. Extended insurance coverage is available for an additional fee.

Student Services at the Host University

A student of ISA DIRECT will be like any other Spanish student at the host university. They will have the same rights and the same obligations, and, of course, they will enjoy the same services and facilities as a Spanish student.

Airport Reception and Transfers

ISA DIRECT facilitates the arrival process abroad for students by providing ground transportation from the airport for students who arrive and depart during ISA DIRECT designated pick-up/drop-off times. Departure from destinations will be arranged by students themselves.

Reception Trip

Upon arrival to Madrid, all students will enjoy a four-day trip getting acquainted with the cities of Madrid and Toledo. Transportation, hotel accommodations, breakfast, and guided tours are included. Students will be responsible for lunch and dinner and all personal expenses during this reception trip.

Intensive Course

All students participating in an Individualized Studies with Spaniards program will attend an intensive three-week course at the Menendez Pelayo International University in Sevilla after the four-day reception trip. This course consists of 45 hours of instruction and is mandatory for all Individualized Studies with Spaniards program participants. Both the course and accommodations during the three weeks are included in the price of the program. After this course students, will proceed to their program city. Academic year students will only attend one three week intensive course at the beginning of the fall semester.

Optional costs

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT IDENTIFICATION CARD (I.S.I.C.)

This optional I.D. allows students to receive various discounts on transportation and entrance fees at events, museums, and other tourist sites.

Extended medical insurance

Students can extend their medical insurance beyond their program start and end dates for $15 per week.
